Lost in Worship

God’s Thoughts to Me

These people say they are mine. They honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. And their worship of Me is nothing but man-made rules learned by rote (Isaiah 29:13, NLT)

Where Talk is Cheap

image

Once upon a time I wandered in a lost world where talk was cheap, promises were empty and worship, a farce.

We were well-trained, yet lost, in the ways of bringing sacrifices of praise and worship to our God.

image

A garish smile reflected my parched, barrenness … the nothingness of a little one who frantically tried to win the approval of the world; a world capable of loving only those who could sing a Babylonian song.

The rhythm of their music in all its religious genres, enslaved my soul and its worldly, earthly fortissimo and deceptive lure became the jailer of my imagination.

image

But in lucid moments God opened my heart to the sweet pianissimo of life and the delicate joys of beautiful roses.

He gently led me, together with the beasts of the field, to a Garden in the east … to a river where He quenched my inmost thirst with the Fountain of Life.

image

He brought me to a Heavenly Throne where I bowed down with all creation  in reverent worship to the King of kings … there where I could behold His glory.

Much love and sweet blessings xx

Mia

I am linking up with Lisa-Jo and all the gracious ladies at my Tea Time and Link-Up page. Due to a bad case of fibrofog and flue, I totally overspent on my five minutes.

I live in a small seaside town on the south-east coast of South Africa. I suffer from fybromyalgia/constant fatigue syndrome. I trust in the Lord Jesus for grace and strength to survive from day to day. He provides me with this and more and I therefore like to try and encourage others with the same illness. I am married and I am the proud mother of two grown sons.

  1. Dear Mia. You always capture so clearly the song of one who knows the replenishing love and grace of God. Thank you once again for taking my eyes off performance and putting them full on grace. Bless you, friend. I pray you are feeling some relief from your fibro fog.

    1. Dear Ashley
Performance, my dear sweet friend, is the greatest enemy to finding grace of our Pappa! This week Jesus words about the question of the Israelites what they should do to inherit eternal life, Jesus’ only answer was to have faith in Him whom our Pappa God has sent. But that kind of faith in on my short list for a post in the near future. It is SO important for us to get a Devine revelation about what Jesus meant with those words!
Love you lots, my dear friend.xx

  2. This was so beautiful and true, MIa. So many try to win the approval of others in “a world capable of loving only those who could sing a Babylonian song.” (I love the way you put things!)

I guess I’m blessed – I could never sing a Babylonian song! i never fit in, but one day in my heavenly home, I will!

Hope you are feeling better soon!

    1. Dear Jerralea
This world has a way of teaching us how to sing their songs! But not so with our Pappa. His songs are filed with love, grace and mercy.
      Keep well, dear friend!

  3. Amazing words and pictures. Really inspiring. Dropping by from Winsome Wedensday. My entry: Love and faithfulness from: willyouhearfromme.blogspot.com

  4. This was really lovely, Mia. I see your *thumbnail* on many of the same blogs that I link up with, so I finally came over for a visit. I’m so glad that I did! I love the way you write – it’s so poetic. And I love the way your heart feels. I sometimes wonder if I have fibro, though I have not been “formally” diagnosed. But, at my age, the aches and pains of living are a constant undercurrent to every day. However, like you, I bow down every inch of me at the feet of my Savior.

I have added you to my blog roll so that I can keep up with your posts, and so that others may also be blessed.

    GOD BLESS!

    1. Dear Sharon
It is an honor to welcome you at my blog! My love for the poetic is a legacy from my late father. Yes, the saying goes that aging is not for sissies. But oh, we can be such sissies at times. Thanks for adding me to your blog roll.

  5. Hi Mia! I am so sorry that you are not feeling well. I hope today will be a better day.

I loved your reflection on worship…to worship in the quiet. “Pianissimo” Such a beautiful word too. It’s hard to find my place when it’s loud, but quiet helps me concentrate. I can be with God so much more fully.

    1. Hi Ceil
Yes, I can just imagine how everything one day will only be peaceful and how we will only experience inner quiet! Thanks for your kind wishes, dear friend.

  6. Beautiful! God calls us away from the ways of the world– and as we sense His presence we bow down in reverent worship. Your words and pictures describe this so clearly.
I pray that you will feel better!

Once we find that place within where our God abides in us as we abide in Him, that we truly stand in awe of His magnificence.

  7. Yes, we must come to the garden of HIS love and embrace Jesus there. Thank you for visiting my Sunday Sermon Digested. We cannot pay for the feast He has prepared for us. Jesus has paid it all.

  8. We’ve been going through a sermon series on worship the past few weeks at my church, and it’s been SO encouraging. Worship is what we were made to do.

    Love this:
“He brought me to a Heavenly Throne where I bowed down with all creation in reverent worship to the King of kings … there where I could behold His glory.”
    Amen.

  9. I’m so sorry that your Fibro is acting up on top of being sick, Mia! I’m praying for a quick recovery. But thank you for your beautiful story of God’s wooing and redemption in your life. Praying that will have an impact on all who need to hear it!

  10. Oh, for those lucid moments that we are willing and ready to be led by the King to His waters of refreshment. Praying for you, Mia.

  11. Beautiful post, Mia. So thought-provoking and draws us near to the Lord as we reflect on these special thoughts.
Thanks for linking up at Essential Fridays.

  12. You made me smile big time. When we lived in Uganda and visited in Kenya my husband became in love with giraffes. We have many photos, paintings, stuffed animals of them, and on and on. He loves them so much. I showed him your picture and he grinned. Loved it.

You are on many hearts re: your health issue. You are much cared for, much loved by your blog family

    1. Dear Joanne
When I was thinking of a picture of animals bowing down worshipping our Lord, this was the one I had in mind. Thanks for all you prayers! You guys are awesome.

  13. Mia, Your words always make my heart and mind sing, so filled with sweet love and honor for our Lord. I was driving to our home in the mountains with my husband and praying and in a moment was so filled with the Holy Spirit that I got chills. I had a big smile, my husband asked me why I was smiling and I told him. I’m so grateful I worship with heart and action – and that I understand what this means now. I am praying for you, Mia. I understand what this is like (fog), and how hard the words come when that “disconnect” is there in the brain and body. Blessings, friend. Thank you for stopping by my place today.

    1. Dear Kim
This sounds so much like our Pappa leading you to an oasis in a desert place. He loves doing there He fills us with so much hope!

  14. I love how you describe worship. We are discussion worship at our church right now and you have inspired me. That quote from Isaiah from the NLT is thought provoking too.

  15. Those verses in Isaiah stopped me dead in my tracks. For decades I learned to pray by rote memorization yet I didn’t truly understand (or appreciate) the words coming from my lips! What a terrible tragedy. This reiterates to me how to teach God’s word to my children. While scripture and prayer memorization is important, we must believe in our hearts what we say! Thank you so very much for this critical reminder!

    1. Dear Carrie
Prayer as I see it, is the two way conversation between us and our Lord in all the different ways! Honesty is so important when we talk to Him.

  16. I love this: “a river where He quenched my inmost thirst with the Fountain of Life.” I pray that that thirst will continually be quenched by Him, and Him alone. Praying for your strength, Mia!

    1. Dear Allison
Thank for your good wishes. I also cannot think of anything or anyone else that can quench our spiritual thirst.

  17. The beauty and power of your words strike a chord in my soul. The truth of the emptiness of legalism then the Truth of a real relationship that can only be found in humility… where love is manifested over us. Awesome thoughts yet again, Mia. Your words are a wonderful stirring spoon for the soul.

    1. Dear Floyd
Real truth and gentleness is only to be found in the One who is Truth. Not in a dogma about truth, or about salvation, or eternal life for these are all part of Him!

  18. Mia –
I love the picture of the giraffe bowing low combined with the thought of bowing before our God in worship. Beautiful image. Thank you for sharing this today.
    Blessings, sweet friend!

  19. Mia,
I’ve been looking forward to another post from you – you have such a way of weaving lost and found together. We bow down in reverent worship with all creation. I know, when you’re feeling better, that a little bit of mischievous worship will creep into all that reverence as well – because we know our Poppa would laugh. Still praying relief and comfort for you.
    Janet

    1. Dear Janet
Thank you for all your kind words! You encourage me so when the Fibro flares. Thanks. Our Pappa does have an excellent sense of humor.

  20. Mia, I love the image of bowing down in worship as God quenches the thirst that we all have. So beautifully written thank you for adding to #fmf Blessings to you – hope the flu passes quickly x
