Courtroom Of Darkness

God’s Thoughts to Me

Then they said, ” Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.” (Genesis 11:4, NLT).

Devilish Togetherness

image

Once upon a time, when the world was lost in the evil one, the prince of darkness summoned his black knights around his throne of lies.

Their malignant wrathful presence filled the extravagant courtroom with their venomous sulphuric vapors of pride, evil grandeur, hatred and lies. They reeked of fatal destruction, decay and deceit.

Their prince informed them of his wicked plan to tickle the ears of the gullible earthlings by whispering damnable lies into the itching ears of their greedy hearts,

image

“Let us once again subtly mix truth and lies and deceive these vermin again. They know they are skilled master builders.

Let us inflate their arrogant egos and tell them that they are able to build for themselves a city with a tower to reach their God! Let us imprison them together in chains of our hatred.

With persistent lying we can convince them that standing together in humanistic, devilish unity, will make them like the King of Heaven.

image

Let us convince them not to use the stones that their God has created, but to build their own bricks to glorify the works of their hands.

Persuade them of the uselessness of tar and the benefits of using the mortar they have mixed with lime and cement.” The hosts of hell screeched with hateful excitement.

They bowed to their evil prince and departed for the dwelling place of man, not wasting a moment to spin their poisonous web of falsehood.

image

Their lies and deceptions seemed to be a succeeding, but they failed to consider the Omniscience of the Divine One. The King of Heaven summoned His host of angels,

“My naive ones are once again lending our their ears to be tickled with lies and their hearts to be filled with pride.

My children have once again rebelled and succumbed to the monstrous lie of spiritual independence.

They are standing together in devilish unity and trying to reach my Kingdom with a wicked man-made tower.

image

They are ignorant of the fact that this stairway to heaven will actually lead them away from Me and is nothing more that a cursed monument to glorify themselves!

Let us destroy this evil unity that makes them believe they are like gods by creating a Babylonian confusion.

I will confuse their speech and scatter them across the whole world. Only when they once again see their fragility, they will realize that they are but dust.

image

Then I will reach out to them with my endless mercy and draw them with the overtures of my love. I will woo them and cherish them in the cradle of my heart.”

Much love and sweet blessings xx

  1. Love these photos weaved together with the words of our Father. And all the people said Amen to, “Then I will reach out to them with my endless mercy and draw them with the overtures of my love. I will woo them and cherish them in the cradle of my heart.”

    • Dear Kim
I for one am eternally thankful for our Pappa’s patience and drastic and sometimes very hard measures He uses to bring us back to Him. That shows that we are his children for He uses discipline like any good parent to teach us to trust Him and His love and goodness!

  3. Hi Mia! Sometimes I have such plans for myself, only to find that they are all wrong for me. Yikes. Kind of like the Tower of Babel, I think it’s going to be great…only to see that God has greater plans for me.

I hope to be a better listener to what God wants for me. Build less, and let him draw up my plans!
    Blessings, my friend,
    Ceil

Sometimes I think common sense is one of the greatest gifts we can have. Most of the times when we use common sense, life would be much less complicated. The only problem is that this has become quite uncommon today! Yes, dear Ceil, that we would just become still and wait on God!

This is so true! The evil one is defeated but until our Lord Jesus has finished making everything new, he walks around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. But we only need to submit to our Lord Jesus and resist the devil and he will flee with his tail between his legs. What a joy to know the Victor of all evil is living in us.

  4. Dear Mia,
Oh, the mix of truth and lies is always the hardest to detect…your writing speaks truth…blessings to you and your family as your prepare for your son’s wedding…love to you 🙂

    • Dear Dolly
Oh, we have to wait for them to finish their final exams before we will start planning the wedding, my friend. But I cannot wait!! Yes, my friend, we all need a healthy dose of wisdom and discernment.

  5. This truly reveals the evil one’s heart in our present culture, Mia! We allow him to feed our egos and pride and it always leads to our destruction! I’m paying attention to what God is saying to you today, my friend, and turning to the only One who is able to bring light to the darkness. Hugs to you!

    • Dear Beth
We can easily forget that we derive our spirituality from either God or satan. Humanism is such a wicked lie from the evil one that millions have accepted as truth! Praying for you, dear friend, and you are so close in my heart.

  6. Dear Mia,

A thought I had after reading your stunning story, and the following part,

“Let us convince them not to use the stones that their God has created, but to build their own bricks to glorify the works of their hands”,

is the verse that says, “He is the chief corner stone that the builders rejected”. The tower of Babel is human effort to reach God, and is truly demonic in nature. The way to the Father is only through Jesus Christ. There is sadly a foolishness to the message of the Cross that even those who profess to believe in Jesus are ashamed of.

    • Dear Pamela
Oh, this is the way of all religion through the ages. Man trying to reach God through whatever means they think possible. But religion, ever the religion called Christianity, binds us up. But our Lord Jesus will always be the only Cornerstone and His grace the building material!

  7. We had a Bible teacher who told us to always check with the Bible when you are listening to what some might call “New truth.” If it is weird it is NOT God. Those who build man made kingdoms will not last, Only what is built on a firm foundation of Truth will stand. Thank you for sharing with us here at “Tell Me a Story.”

    • Dear Hazel
That is why we should always take care to build only on Jesus, the Cornerstone. And we should also be careful when choosing the materials we build with. Only what is build with gold (what we do through faith in Him and through His grace) will last forever.

  8. That pride you picture is monstrous and we find it all over the place. By science the creation is taken control of and it seems like the human being is in power of his own life. But, as you, I believe God will put things straight. Let us be persistent in the longing for Christ.

    • Dear Anders
Oh, that is Satan’s big lie and deception; telling us humans we can be in control of our own lives. We as spiritual creatures derive our spirituality from either God or the dark prince of the world. But we know that he is already a defeated foe. But until the end of this world he walks around like a hungry lion trying to devour as many gullible souls as possible.

    • Dear Jerralea
That is why we should always ask for wisdom and discernment, my friend. Satan has a way of preaching beautiful sermons with just a small lie that takes us on the wide road.

  9. I just finished a month-long series of lessons on the tower of Babel with my 4-6 year olds at church. It’s important to teach them at a young age that there are consequences for disobedience, and that God can take a scheme of the enemy and use it for His glory!

    • Dear Barbie
They are so sweet at that age! Yes, my friend, when we keep Jesus’ words in mind that everything not done through faith in Him, is sin, then disobedience becomes so much clearer. His life in and through us in everything we do, is all that is not disobedience. This makes me rejoice everyday for there is just nothing more enjoyable than to live in Jesus and He in us!

    • Yes, dear friend, there is no stone our Lord will leave unturned and no evil our Lord had not already defeated to bring us back to Him.

  10. It’s a frightening picture {shudder} and not one that is necessarily in the past for some of us. How often do we seek to glorify ourselves rather than God? But there is always hope! Thank God for His endless mercy! Amen! Thank you, Mia, for always speaking from your heart. Blessings.

    • Dear June
Our Lord knows how cunning the enemy can be and how easily we are deceived without Him. That is why we should allow the Holy Spirit to change the way we think.

  11. Mia, love your 5 Minute Friday on together. What fun it was to do this in a room full of other FMF writers Thursday evening at Allume and then listen as they all read them allowed. God was present in this room as each woman uncovered her soul through her writing. It was priceless. Wish I would have recorded it for you. I did take a few photos.

  12. Yes, Mia … in the end God is the One who will write the stories, build what needs to be constructed, tear down what does not honor HIm. He’s the One in charge, He calls the shots!

I hope you are feeling stronger this week, my friend …

    • Dear Linda

  13. Amen Mia! God realizes that when people are unified in purpose they can accomplish impossible feats, both noble and ignoble. I love this bible story that teaches us a lesson about pride…and our dependence on Him!

Blessings sweet sister; have a joyful week!
    Denise

    • Hi Denise
Yes, the works of our hands might seem like something great and noble, but whatever is not done through faith on our Lord Jesus is sin and from the evil one!

  14. “Endless mercy” — those words stood out to me. How many times God has to extend His mercy to me. So thankful it’s endless! Awesome post, Mia. This Scripture means more to me for having read it.

    • Thank you, dear friend, for visiting! Yes, our minds cannot grasp or understand the magnificence of our God’s character and to try to describe Him, we can only use words like endless!

  15. Mia~You do have a way with words that made that Scripture come to life and show us how we build our own towers of Babel when we leave out the Lord. Praise God for His graciousness to reach out to us and draw us back with His love. We would crumble under the heap of bricks without Him.
    Blessings,
    Janis

    • Dear Janis
Oh, my friend, we crumble under the bricks we create with our own hands. But at some stage we learn that only His way is safe unto all eternity!

    • Dear Marty
We sometimes think our Lord is unfair with His discipline, but that is just it. He shows us His love and mercy through His discipline. That shows us that we are His adopted children.

  16. After all our wanderings through cities of destruction and wildernesses He still calls us back home. Back to Him. Such a faithful God and that characteristic is so magnified in light of our faithlessness. Love Rachael

    • Dear Rachel
You can say that again, my friend! Everything of our Pappa is so magnified by our inability to be like Him; the one lie satan loves whispering in our ears!
      Blessings XX
      Mia

  17. I so appreciate the expression in your words. That truly describes the planet in which we toil… We are but dust… if not for the souls that live forever… May He be glorified in our lives…

    • Dear Floyd
Yes, my brother, may our Lord be glorified and that He would destroy any tower of pride that might still lurk in the darkness of our hearts!

  18. A fantastic retelling of a familiar story. Sometimes we need to hear these tales told in different words to feel their impact again. And of course Babel is not complete without Pentecost and in the end it’s God’s love and mercy that builds an authentic community. Love reading your posts each week! God bless!

    • Dear David
Oh, this is sooo true! Nothing in this life makes any sense without Pentecost. Knowing that we are only pilgrims on our way home, keeps us sane in a world lost in chaos and darkness.

  19. I love this! I love how you put dialogue to a most interesting incident in the Bible. God in His wisdom and mercy will never let us forget that we are but dust. It occurs to me, that every time I try to control my own life, I am really trying to build my own little tower.

Thankfully, God rescues me from myself.

    GOD BLESS!

    • Dear Sharon
This is the lie of humanism, dear friend. Man cannot control his own life. We are spiritual creatures and to function at all, we derive our spirituality either from God or the evil one. But we are quite stubborn and it took a few broken down towers to make us realize this.

  20. Wow! You have a way with words! Of course I’ve read that story in the bible but you brought it to life. I love how God had a plan all along to bring us back together again! Have a blessed Friday!

    • Dear Maria
Yes, our God had everything planned out even before He created the world and that is such a comfort to know that He has already defeated the evil foe!
