Itching Ears

God’s Thoughts to Me

For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths (2 Timothy 4:3-4, NLT).

The Sirens

image

The world is cloaked in a blanket of sorrow and darkness. The hearts of men are sailors sailing the oceans of destruction, listening intently while being mesmerized and lured away by the lewd songs of the Sirens.

They beckon them on a voyage to the deepest water abyss where the Prostitute rules (Rev 17:15).

The merchants of the world are strutting like peacocks , spewing lies, committing adultery with the whore of Babylon, getting drunk on the wine of her passionate immorality.

image

They are traders of gold, silver, jewels, cinnamon, incense, wine, religion and the souls of men.

They whisper delightful lies to the itching ears of man with false, deceptive promises of wealth, prosperity and glory.

Their fate is eternal damnation for this great city has fallen. She has become a home for demons and a hideout for every foul spirit.

The merchants will weep and mourn over their beloved.

image

They will seek another lover, crying in sackcloth and ashes while their wealth disappears in a puff of smoke.

But they are deaf to the gentle voice calling from heaven, “Come away from her, my people” (Rev 18:3).

Much love xx

  1. Wow, such amazing images that bring this difficult scripture to life. I do not want to be deaf to that gentle voice calling from heaven. Listening with my heart to this warning here, Mia.

Yes, dear friend, we need to be alert, for this woman is not called a harlot and seductress for no reason. She is a sly foe.

Those of us who live and breathe and have our being in our
Lord Jesus, have nothing whatsoever to be afraid off! In Christ we are secure forever.

  2. I “live” in Revelation many times a year. The Lord has laid it on me. And your description, your photos, examples, is extremely truthful. So many, even in our present day, “don’t get it”… think it ain’t no big deal to be buried in marketing, don’t need to focus on the market “owner”… even though the human one can be controlled by the satanic eternal one. Heavy sigh.

You laid it out in a good way. Thank you.

    • Dear Joanna
Yes, these days are living in the time of great apostasy and the anti-Christ spirit is doing well in many, many orginized churches.

  3. Wow! The pairing of images and scriptures that you’ve used in this post are powerful, Mia. I just hopped over from Gail and Bible Love Notes and she had a similar theme. I suppose God is trying to get our attention and stay away from those things that defile and tear us down. I’m heeding the warning, my friend! Thanks for sharing this!

    • Dear Beth
Yes, dear friend, we need to stay far away from the ways of this world; especially from all the lies the enemy of our souls whispers in our heart in Jesus’ name!

And His voice is so still, gentle and quiet. He never screams or condemns. We need to listen so attentively.

We need not only know the Scriptures, but even more important is so know the Living Word, our dearest Lord Jesus!

  4. The one word I thought of as I read your post was abide. To stay close. To abide in Him. Then we will hear the voice of our Shepherd and we won’t be fooled.

  5. This is such a powerful verse Mia; it’s sad to see people reject the truth and follow myths rather than seek God’s Word for the truth! Awesome post this weekend my friend!

Have a blessed day and a week full of joy and love,
    Denise

  6. Sad truth, true sadness. How blessed you have made me feel today that He opened my ears and heart to His gentle voice calling from heaven, ”Come away from her, my people”! This post tied with these pictures also grabs at the heart to encourage prayer.

  7. You always have such lovely interesting photos on your blog. As soon as i saw those sirens I thought how distractions are my sirens. They pull me off course and I lose focus. Good image, Mia. thanks!

    • Dear Jean
And this world has no shortage of distractions! We need to ask for grace to choose only what is good.

  8. Wow, Mia. The truth in your words are again like a devotional for me. So powerful. How sad, indeed, will be the day that itching ears reject the voice of truth. That time is closer than we think, unfortunately. I know better and I still sometimes catch myself falling deaf to the gentle voice calling from heaven. Bless you for sharing this great reminder.

    • Dear Tanya
I think it has started quite a long time ago that people started listening to the voice of the evil one quite willingly for that one promises exactly what people want to hear and then he does it even in Jesus’ name!

  9. I am reading through Kings and Chronicles right now and the rebellion and turning from the Lord after all He has done for His people is really hard. I see it all around me too. I just pray that my family can be a light in the darkness and pleasing in His sight. Blessings to you Mia!

    • Dear Rachael
These are dark times we live in, dear friend! So much that is preached in Jesus’ name has nothing to do with Him and the gospel of grace!

  10. We live in a frightening world nowadays, don’t we? It’s a challenge to remain true to God’s word and raise up our son to believe.

    • Dear Patty
I know, dear one! But I would suggest that you give your son to His Pappa God and pray, for He loves your son even more than you do! What we hold on to is never safe, but that which we entrust into our God’s hands is!

Oh, we do much to much! We should learn to just be and allow our Lord Jesus to do the “do” in and through us!

  11. Prophecy is certainly filling up our society… The world wants to believe the lies, they seek to comfort their rotting souls in willful ignorance. May we be His light to blind and may they see with their heart. Powerful post, Mia. Those pictures cross the “T’s” and dot the “I'”…

    • Dear Floyd
What makes this really bad, is that the greedy feed of the souls and resources of the poor and ignorant!

  12. Mia, I have just read the blog. Thank you for reminding us to be careful what we hear. God help us to hear Him and have contented ears.

    Love,

    • Dear Pat
I think we need to come still and quiet in His presence and allow Him to lead us into all truth like He promised and not look to man.
